9 Depressing Sad Songs that You Don't Know

We fight being depressed most of the time, but sometimes depression just creeps up on you.  When depression smothers you, it's like a bad storm.  There is nothing for you to do but adapt and wait for it to pass.  The problem with that time period of depression is the lack of any feeling.  The grayness just makes life unbearable.  Depressing songs help to bring emotion back.  Even though the emotion is sadness, it feels better than emptiness.  So here's a list of depressing songs to help you through those tough times.

Philip Glass - Glassworks
Anything Philip Glass does is beautiful and full of feeling.  Composer of hundreds of movie scores, master of string instruments, he knows how to bring out deep emotion out of any piece of music.  If you don't know him, you should.
Craig Armstrong - Finding Beauty
Another Grammy award winning composer of movies.  So breathtakingly beautiful and deep. Take a listen and you'll understand.
Death Cab for Cutie - What Sarah Said
Probably one of the most mainstream of the picks, but this song was never one of their hits. Death Cab's songs have amazing lyrics that seem to be overshadowed by their great music. "What Sarah Said" has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my father's battle and ultimate loss to cancer.
Lamb - Gabriel
Gorgeous raspy vocals with a combination of pain, beauty, and soul.  Her voice tells a story beyond the lyrics about loneliness and longing.  If you are brokenhearted, this song is for you.
Miles Davis - Blue in Green
One of, if not the most famous Jazz musicians of the world.  I'm not sure if this song is unknown but more like sometimes forgotten.  Great jazz creates an atmosphere but this song develops a universe.
Chocolate Genius - My Mom
Member of the Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band, Chocolate Genius brings his highly honed craft into his album.  The soul and sadness of "My Mom" is so raw and it comes heartwrenchingly through his vocals.  Anyone with an older parent will understand his pain.
Sigur Ros - Untitled (aka Vaka)
Known for their etheral sound, Sigur Ros' style emotes the loneliness of their cold Icelandic homeland.  Literally called "Untitled", the song conveys emptiness in every notion of the sense.  You'll only get two things from this song - deep thoughts and intense emotions.

rosmanczyk - Sad Piano Music
Not the most creative title but it couldn't matter less.  This one is a hidden gem.  I don't know anything about the person or anything about the music other than he/she is brilliant.  Check out the other songs because they are all wonderful.
Another from rosmanczyk called "Dawn"
If you find one song you enjoy on this list, hit the "like" button.
I'm always looking for great new music and may create a new list of unknown songs from the best submissions.  What are your favorite unknown sad songs? Please leave your comments.
